The Black Rat also known as a Roof Rat has large eyes and ears, a slender body and a tail longer than the length of its body. Adults will weigh between 100g to 300g and the head and body are between 15cm and 22cm in length.
In the cooler months they are often found living in the roofs of houses and in trees. They will chew on anything that’s in their path causing considerable destruction to your home. Females have litters of about five to ten young and may have up to six litters per year.
